Emmy's 2010: Red Carpet Special

In Monday's post, I officially declared it "red week", and so the Emmy's Red Carpet couldn't have come at a better time!

The 62nd Emmy award ceremony for Primetime was this past Sunday, and there was a fair share of stunning dresses and some total disasters. Other than the fact that it's just fun to look at the pictures, we can learn a few things from the trends on the red carpet. You will be amazed at how well they relate to what's going on trend-wise at our level. I will try to work in an extra post for each big awards show as we go along. Not only do I love seeing the gowns and jewelry, but I love showing you how to apply it to your everyday outfits!

LACE

Sound familiar? Well, if it doesn't, get your head in the game! This has been a really strong trend from spring that is pushing its way right through fall! The red carpet is no exception! We have some gorgeous little lace pumps on order from Mojo Moxy...coming soon!

Glee's Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera, Cartier Jewels and Christian Louboutins
The Vampire Diaries
Nina Dobrev in Zuhair Murad & Chopard Diamonds
30 Rock's Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta & Lorraine Schwartz Jewelry

(And...of course many of these dresses are hot off the runway! Click on the links to see runway shots.)

SEQUINS

Who doesn't love sequins? These ladies definitely got it right. Claire Danes is decked out in Swarovski crystal beads. She also won Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role in Temple Grandin. Go Claire! The one shoulder gown could not look more perfect on Jennifer Carpenter and the mixture of golds on Heather Morris is absolutely stunning!

Temple Grandin's Claire Danes in Georgio Armani Prive
Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter in Oday Shakar & Brian Atwood heels
Glee's Heather Morris in Ina Soltani with a Swarovski Clutch

As you surely know, we are not lacking in sequins at all here at Solemates either! So I give you Exhibit A...Mistletoe Kisses from Poetic Licence. Fabulous!

STATEMENT NECKLACES

This is also nothing new. The large bib necklaces have been around for a while now. Of course, the average girl doesn't have this kind of bling. Just admire the beauty! (If you click on the picture, it will make it larger and clearer.) Lea Michele wasn't the winning nominee for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, but she did snatch approval from E!'s Fashion Police by winning Best Dressed!

Glee's Lea Michele in Lorraine Schwartz platinum mesh necklace (300 carats of diamonds!)
Project Runway's Heidi Klum in Lorraine Schwartz diamond & ruby necklace valued at $3 million
Dexter's Julie Benz in Pamella Rowland & diamond bib necklace

Check out Forsythe's/Kristen Todd's amazing jewelry selection next door! There are plenty of statement necklaces for everyone.

SCARLET FEVER

It seems like everyone's got it! Red is everywhere--even on the red carpet! Imagine that!

Glee's Jessalyn Gilsig in Nicole Miller
The Office's Jenna Fischer in vintage Versace
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart correspondent Olivia Munn in Zac Posen

We've caught the scarlet fever, too! Check out this little boot from VANELi!
Vaneli Jinny Red

GRECIAN

Grecian styles are all about the drape and hang of the fabric. These gowns are just gorgeous! You can easily incorporate this into your wardrobe. Imagine a flowy, draped top with some skinny jeans or leggings with a bold, over the knee boot...See it?? Amazing! Amber Riley could not have picked a better dress for her shape and size. She is perfect!

Glee's Amber Riley in custom Melissa Masse, Swarovski Clutch & Chopard Diamonds
Kim Kardashian in Marchesa & Lorraine Schwartz Jewels
Damages's Rose Byrne in Gucci

NAVY

Navy is such a classy shade! It is an extremely versatile color as well. We have some incredible navy boots on order! We can't wait for you to see them!

Glee's Jayma Mays in Burberry Prorsum & Neil Lane Jewels
Glee's Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta
30 Rock's Jane Krakowski in Escada

It looks like Glee's cast was right on key when it came to their red carpet attire! They are represented in almost every category!

Getting Razorback Ready

Football season is here at last, and you better believe the Hogs are coming to town! When football season kicks off, it still feels like summer outside, but at the end of the season, it is usually freezing! Here are some tips and suggestions for making the most of your game day ensembles. The first two are for the warm part of the season, and the final two are for the cold part of the season.

Warm Cas RB
The Tailgater.
Tailgating and football go hand in hand, and tailgating usually means being outside all day in the heat or cold. Here we have two sandals. The first is our Yellowbox flip flop. These are extremely comfortable! The black sandal is from Naughty Monkey. It is comfortable and stylish at the same time. I think it's really great to wear red in different ways other than just wearing a Razorback T. The striped tank and the plaid are so cute and can definitely be worn again!

Razorback Neutral
The Posh Pig.
Who says you have to be decked out head to toe in red to show your school spirit? Not us! These outfits take a more neutral perspective. Why not make a neutral your primary color and accent with little bits of red? The result is both stylish and cohesive. We also picked summer shoes again for the hotter temperatures. Both are comfortable, and the black platform wedge adds height without killing your feet.

Cold Uggs Raz
U-G-G-S!
When the temperature gets colder, you can be sure your feet and legs will be cozy in some UGGs! Keep warmer by layering up!

Cold Cute
The Haute Hog.
Aren't these boots fabulous? We love them both so much! They have lower heels, and they will keep you warmer. Again, we paired them with pieces that aren't specifically Razorback, but still red. You can layer up and look cute as well, and these red leggings are too much fun!

Whether you make every home game or just the ones here in Little Rock, we hope our suggestions inspire you to change up your gameday outfits and buy some shoes, too! Check back later this week for our Shoe of the Week, and click here for the Razorback's football schedule. Woo Pig Sooie!

Hot or Not? Fall 2010 Runway Looks

We all know that many outfits seen on the runway are absolutely impossible for everyday wear, and we've all seen the wild and bizarre wardrobe combinations. The runway is usually where the most cutting edge trends are displayed, and most of these trends do not even reach the mainstream consumer (me and you) until the following year! Here are a few looks that were seen on the runway for Fall 2010 Haute Couture and Ready to Wear shows.

So the question is: Hot or Not? Do you think these trends will stick?

WHITE TIGHTS/WHITE LEGGINGS

Hot or Not: White LeggingsFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

White tights and leggings are a tricky thing to master. The "No White After Labor Day" rule has long been forgotten, so that wouldn't be a real issue, but how do you wear these without looking circa 1992? Runway models always look incredible, but not everyone has amazingly long slender legs. I'm on the fence with this one. Are you going to be wearing white tights this fall?

SOCKS WITH HEELS

Hot or Not: Socks with HeelsFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

This example was not hard to find. In fact, I found so many examples of this trend that I couldn't fit them all in one set! Socks and heels are everywhere! Even socks with open-toed strappy sandals. Isn't that supposed to be a big fashion faux pas? Last time I checked, it was! Yet, the most influential designers have them paired with every outfit. I don't know! Will it stick?

FULL FUR BOOTS & MUKLUKS

Hot or Not: Full Fur BootsFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

UGGs have been HUGE for the past few years, and they will not be lacking in popularity any time soon, but what about the full fur boots, or "mukluks" as I like to refer to them as? These were also a big trend on the runways this fall, especially with Chanel. We've seen these on and off with celebrities over the past 10 years, but will they ever make down to us? Would you wear mukluks?

THIGH HIGH BOOTS

Hot or Not: Thigh High BootsFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

So we LOVE a fabulous over-the-knee boot! But how high is too high? It seems like the sky is the limit on the runway, as it is with most everything at this stage in the fashion cycle. Of all the runway trends in this post, I think this one has the best chance to make it to ready to wear. We are already crazy about the over-the-knee look, so why not go thigh high? How high are you willing to wear your boots?

Let us know what you think of these runway trends! Hot or Not?

Mojo Moxy Voodoo

I have decided to do two posts per week. One main article type post on Mondays (go look at our College Checklist post from this Monday), and one shoe spotlight every Thursday similar to this post. So instead of trying to guess when I will be posting again, just be sure to check back every Monday & Thursday!

Mojo Moxy is our newest brand at Solemates. These shoes are really fun and girly. We can't wait to show you more as we receive them! This is such a great shoe for the transition into fall! The suede is really soft, and this open-toe bootie look will be huge this fall!
VMMFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

VoodooFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

This bootie would look amazing with some tucked in skinny jeans or with a fabulous dress! We love the way it looks with the bright red, little bits of leopard print and chunky gold and black accessories. Just fabulous & so fashion forward! Come back on Monday for our next weekly post!
