How To Choose High-Quality Shoes

This post focuses on making sure you get the most out of your shoes in both quality and fit. Here are a few guidelines to follow when shopping to help you pick shoes that will last you for a long time. Some are common sense and others are little details that make can make all the difference.

1. Examine the sole, and make sure it is firmly attached. Soles can be either stitched or cemented to the base of the shoe, and both are acceptable. Make sure the stitches are even in length and not loose at any point, and make sure there is no excess glue or unglued areas along the sole.

2. Check the heel! The heels of women's high-heeled shoes are usually made of plastic and covered with leather. The higher the price, the higher quality the plastic.

3. Inspect the shoe's interior. Leather or suede are the best materials because they absorb moisture. A high quality shoe will be fully lined from front to back.

4. Consider the shoe material. Shoes with an oiled, natural finish are durable, while patent and polished leather shoes resist dirt.

5. Examine any buckles or adornments on the shoe. They should be reinforced with smooth, even double stitching. Rhinestones should be secure.

6. Look for the words "Vero Cuoio" on the sole of the shoe. This is Italian for 'real leather'. Usually this is extremely high quality Italian leather. A few of our brands that boast the Vero Cuoio seal are Betsey Johnson, Beverly Feldman, VANELi, Cindy Says, Nina and Olivia Rose Tal.

Naughty Monkey: Entourage

This pump is incredible! The embellished heel is so avant garde and looks extremely designer. The fabric also has the perfect touch of shimmer and a gorgeous lace print. The platform on the toe is also really great for comfort.

Fall 2010 Top 10 Trends (Part 2)

Last week, you got a glimpse of the first half of our Top 10 Trends for this Fall, and now it's time to reveal the final looks that made our list! This is not all of the trends we have in store for you. We will be revealing more as we receive new shoes.
Fall 2010: Taking Flight

Taking Flight Picks
Taking Flight is all about leather and boots! What a fantastic combination! Take your wardrobe to new heights with an over the knee boot this fall. The other two are full of those little unique details that we love so much, and they really pull the aviator theme together.

Fall 2010: Fabulous 50's Fashion

50's Picks
The midi skirt is back with a vengeance! As pictured above, the midi skirt hits about mid calf, right below the widest part of the leg and was a huge flop in the 1970s. It has had its moments of greatness in the 50s and 80s, but this one is hard to pull off! So, with midi skirts aside, we loved the 1950s theme with a ladylike bag and quilted flats! It has such a Chanel/Dior's New Look feel--so lovely and vintage.

Fall 2010: Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks Picks
Stevie Nicks is incredible! She has such a distinct sense of fashion that is undeniably her, and she is not afraid to express herself. She is hippie minus the tie dye, plus a whole lot of fringe and the perfect mix of rock and roll. She has also announced a solo album in the works to be released sometime next year! Go Stevie!

Fall 2010: Minimalist

Minimalist Picks
Minimalist is a newer movement on the fashion scene and is a more modern take on the futuristic concept. It is clean, crisp lines, luxurious cashmere and wool and tailored to perfection. The color palette is very soft and neutral. This would look incredible with light pinks! Although we are known for our over the top girlie merchandise, these examples just go to show that we have something for everyone!
Fall 2010: Prince Inspired

Prince Picks
We are so excited about these trends inspired by musicians! It really puts a little drama and edge into the mix. Prince is known for his ridiculous fashion choices. He is really over the top, and we can relate. We picked the open-toe bootie because it is so fashion forward and the gold grommets are the perfect touch. The Naughty Monkey pump is HOT! These are incredible! Keep checking the blog and our Facebook page to find out as soon as we get them in!
Fall 2010: Vibrant Red

Vibrant Red Picks
We end with a punch! We can't get enough red this season, and we are not disappointed in the least. Nothing conveys more confidence then strutting in a pair of red boots! This color is energizing and empowering. Wear it with pride and work it, girl!

Now you have it! Our Top 10 (OK...11) trends list for this season is now complete! We have everything from the simple minimalist to outrageous leopard prints, vintage inspiration that spans from the 50s to the 70s and influence from some of the greatest modern musicians. It just goes to show that just about anything goes these days. So get creative, be inspired and try something new!

Nicole: Mazy

This bootie is perfection! The color, the heel, the shape, the leather--it is simply perfection.

Although this shoe isn't a timeless silhouette like a basic pump, it kind of has that classic feel. We paired with periwinkles and cobalt blues with some denim and floral touches. It looks amazing with the simple lines of a pencil skirt, A-line dress, button-down cardigan, boot-cut jean and trench coat. I said it before, and I'll say it again--Perfection!
