Trends To Look For In 2011

It's 2011 already! Last year was full of fun and fabulous fashion that is carrying over into this year, and this year will not disappoint! Here is a small guide of trends that have been seen on the runways for Spring 2011 and are sure to be huge this year.

The 70's...Again
2011 TR: The 70s

Marc by Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam
The 1970's have been a source of inspiration for designers over and over again including collections from this past fall. The 70's are sticking around for spring, too. All that you need to pull off these looks are some high-waist, wide leg trousers with a thin leather belt. Add an updated button-down and plenty of denim fabric. Later in the year, I will be displaying some disco influence for spring!

Minimalism is here to stay.
TR 2011: Minimal

Rag and Bone, Calvin Klein Collection
Minimalism is another trend from fall that is here to stay. You can expect this trend to be huge again this year. We've been seeing it on runways since last spring. Minimalism is known for its light, airy fabrics and neutral tones. The lines are clean and simple with minimal embellishments. The silhouettes are draped and boxy. Spice up your minimalist look with more dramatic accessories.

Maxi Lengths
TR 2011: Maxi

DKNY, Bottega Veneta
Midi skirts were a trend for Fall 2010, and now we are seeing the maxi skirt for spring. Keep this look fresh and young with a sexy tank top, statement jewelry and strappy sandals.

Pretty in Prints
TR 2011: Prints

There is nothing I love more than mixing prints. It's so much fun and creates a really unique look. Some guidelines to follow include matching colors and varying the print sizes. You can often combine different knits and weaves like a cableknit and a herringbone to create the same effect. Pair your prints with neutral shoes.

Color Block
TR 2011: Color

Color blocking is making a huge comeback! It is a great alternative to minimalism. These pumps from Betsey Johnson are the perfect fit to accessorize your color blocked outfit.

I am so excited for the new year! We have so much to look forward to on the fashion front, so stick around to see what's next!
